68th Ottawa Spark
Sleep Over
One of the most exciting things
to do in Guiding is to go camping. Sparks are a little young
for sleeping outside in tents but we do like to give them a
taste of camping in our sleep overs. We are having a "Hop
into Spring" sleep over for the Sparks on Friday, March
30 to Saturday, March 31 at the Riverside Church.
The girls are to arrive at the Church
after dinner on Friday evening between 6:15 p.m. and 6:45
p.m. and are to be picked up Saturday morning between
8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. The girls will be served an evening
snack and breakfast. In between we will be doing different activities
based on our "Hop into Spring" theme including games,
songs and crafts.
The two leaders will be supervising
but we would love to have a couple of parent volunteers spend
the night with us. The girls will be sleeping in dome tents
set up in rooms 4 and 5 which have just had new carpet in them
and the leaders and parents will be sleeping in room 6 (the
room where Sparks is usually held).
For this event, each Spark is responsible
for bringing her own sleeping bag and air or foam mattress to
sleep on. If you do not have one of these items please let the
leaders know in advance as we can get extra sleeping bags and
mattresses if they are needed.
For events such as the sleep over
we use money raised from calendar and cookie sales to subsidize
the cost of the event. We try to keep the cost to a minimum.
We may need to charge $2.00 or $3.00 for the sleep over. This
will be determined closer to the sleep over depending on the
number of girls who will be attending.
We will also be sending out a more
detailed outline of the evenings activities closer to the date.
At this point, we are interested in knowing how many girls want
to participate in our sleep over event. Please return the bottom
of this newsletter with you daughter next week.
